Yeah… so it’s been a few months since I last made a review… and you all probably think I’m dead by now… but I’m not… so you’ll have to deal with me for a little bit longer… sorry about that. So I was trying to through some excuses in my head, trying to figure out a way where I don’t sound like a total jerk about not updating… but then I came up with nothing. So yeah, I’m a total jerk. I apologize for my jerkiness. Well, here we are now almost at the start of 2016, which I will most definitely be miswriting on school papers, and I thought “My god, what are you doing with your life? You’ve been on a book slump for WAY too long! GET YOURSELF TOGETHER!”. So during school break I FINALLY picked up Magnus Chase again which I have been putting off for WAY too long. Plus I haven’t watched the season finale of Once Upon a Time yet (which I will watch right after I write this) so I needed a way to keep me away from spoilers. I KNOW, I KNOW, I NEED TO WATCH THE FINALE! I’M SORRY! I’LL WATCH IT SOON OKAY? And I’m pretty sure that’s all I have to say for now… So let’s get onto fangirling over Magnus Chase shall we?

Guess what’s coming out May 3rd? THE TRIALS OF APOLLO!!!!! YESSSSSSSSS!!!! And I am beyond excited!!!!! I’m just so ready to see Percy and everyone else! Apollo too of course, since the series is all about him. So this is my list of expectations I have for the book.
So, the time has come for my favorites of 2015. I can't believe the year is already almost over. Its been almost a full year since we started OUSF and I hope there are many more years to come. Already, I feel like I have a place in the book community and I'm so grateful to all my booktube friends and reader friends alike.
Hi guys,
So I'm crammed on an airplane right now and on the verge of hysterical sobbing because no one warned me about this book. I'd gotten endless recommendations to read it, especially from Butter, who absolutely LOVES Andrew Smith. When I was picking out books to bring with me on my trip, this made the list, and something about the sarcastic tone of the book pulled me right in So Mockingjay came out...about a month ago.
I actually got to watch it with Gazelle and some of our other friends. The entire squad all got together, which was the first time for two years. We saw it on Black Friday, and I'd taken notes during the movie and planned to pump out my review at the end of NaNoWriMo. That obviously didn't happen. First off, I want to thank Michael Weekly for giving me an ARC of his book in exchange for an honest review.
Mystical is a fantasy novel about witches, specifically a novice witch named Eliza Rose who is learning more about the world of mystics (non humans). She knows that she is a witch and has a broomstick (which is not for flying) but absolutely no idea about anything else in her life as a witch. That is, until, mystics just begin popping up around her and trying to kill her since she’s going through the equivalent of witch puberty, which allows her to gain skill and try and learn to harness them. The mystical world includes witches, mermaids, elves and shifters as well as corrupt versus innocent types of each species. Hi guys,
So, this month hasn't exactly been the most productive reading month. I read a grand total of two books (one of them was for school), but I do have a reason. If you take a look to the sidebar, I actually participated in NaNoWriMo this month and WON! I wrote 50,000 words (which took up my reading and blogging time) which still amazes me. A million late nights and baggy eyes were totally worth it in the end for this huge accomplishment. Anyways, here are the books that I read in the month of November: Hi guys,
So, if you didn't already know, this month is NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month)! I decided that enough is enough, and I'm going to get my book written and maybe even out into the world someday. I'm going to try and do my best do write weekly updates about my journey writing this, because the fact that I'm finally writing this (especially about something so close to home) really means a lot to me. I've gone done it.
Not only have I managed to start and finish a book in the midst of a huge reading slump, I managed to read a 550 page book in a weekend. Take that reading slump! So this probably shouldn't have been the book I chose to binge read considering the fact that some of my most anticipated releases came out this month, but at least it got me reading Okay, so maybe they don't
I know I'm never good at reviewing books, and I won't do a very good job. However, despite all the "fun" things happening in life (cross country, subject tests, HIGH SCHOOL) I kind of have been procrastinating a lot by reading. Which I guess I can technically get away with but reading's never assigned anymore so I guess not. Anyway, a bunch of really good stuff came upon me recently. Of which I had to stop everything else and read, which I did, which I won't review because I suck at it, but will give ratings. Here they are... |
Goodreads Book of the Month
5 members The reviewers of http://www.onceuponsomefangirls.weebly.com We have monthly books, feel free to ... ButterI TOTALLY DIDN'T JUST MAKE THIS SKETCHY PICTURE OF MYSELF ON POWERPOINT PLEASE NOTE: MY NAME IS NOT BUTTER FOR NO REASON (DEM DOUBLE NEGATIVES DOH). I WILL BE SALTY AND MUSHY AND GROSS AND I AM NOT AFRAID TO USE PROFANITY SO READ AT YOUR OWN DISCRETION. 'Sup people... It's Butter. Please don't think I sound angsty and dead-ish because that's just me after reading until two in the morning. I guess I like reading YA books because they're quite easy to get what's going on and they allow the sluices in my brain to open for all that rush of fangirling. However, I'm kind of being peer pressured into reading classics because "they're better for my reading comprehension" which is a-ok awesome but I'm still a child who dreams of random awesomeness... Not historical fiction. I'm sorry for being "that one kid" and I'm trying to transition, please love meeeee. Also my grammar sucks so please don't judge (Can you tell I'm half dead while writing this?). CaramelHi! I'm Caramel, the mastermind behind all of this. I've been reading forever. Seriously, my family calls me Hermione. My first memorable book that got me on the path of fangirling is the Harry Potter series, that I read in kindergarten. It was the spark for my bonfire of reading. I'll read just about any genre, or anything, truthfully. I'd probably read a bibliography if you gave me that too.
GazelleHey! Gazelle here! I'm the resident PJO fangirl. The first book series I got into was the PJO series, then I read the Harry Potter books. I LOVED them all. I'm also a huge Lunar Chronicles fan. I actually love a lot of books, I don't think I can name them all. To be honest, I'm really not sure what to say next, Caramel just kind of shoved this in front of me and said, "Here, write something about yourself." I don't know what else to say, so if you could just pretend you're reading the most heart-felt thing in the world, laugh, smile, hold this to your heart, and maybe even shed a few tears, then that would be great. Thanks, I owe you one. Bottom line: I like books. A lot.
